Fake Mockingjay comic cover. After finishing this piece I started playing around with the idea of framing it as comic book cover and ran with the idea. Sadly this isn’t an official cover nor, if they are creating a comic series, do I have any part in it, but this was fun. If you haven’t figured it out this is from Chapter 12 of Mockingjay. I honestly never thought I would illustrate this scene, but guess that teaches me to never say never.
Also I just copied the prices from another comic I had lying around, so if the exchange rates are off… well, it’s not like you can really buy it anyway. I’m adding this because I know otherwise someone will mention it, because that’s how the Internet works. :)

I had planned to have this up to coincide with the DVD release last Saturday, but wasn’t able to get it finished in time. It’s finished now though, so here’s my art nouveau (ish) Katniss Everdeen.

Work in progress. I originally planned to have this done for the HG movie release yesterday, but that obviously didn’t happen. Should have this finished sometime this week.

Sometimes I find my stuff floating around on tumblr. It always makes me happy when I find people who actually credit your work on here, so yay!

A commissioned piece depicting a scene from Mockingjay.
In the fluorescent light, the circles under his eyes look like bruises. “There’s still time. You should sleep.” Unresisting, he lies back down, but just stares at the needle on one of the dials as it twitches from side to side. Slowly, as I would with a wounded animal, my hand stretches out and brushes a wave of hair from his forehead. He freezes at my touch, but doesn’t recoil. So I continue to gently smooth back his hair. It’s the first time I have voluntarily touched him since the last arena.
“You’re still trying to protect me. Real or not real,” he whispers.
“Real,” I answer. It seems to require more explanation. “Because that’s what you and I do. Protect each other.” After a minute or so, he drifts off to sleep.
